When you are ready to unpack the pods, you call the company, and they bring them to your new house. You empty them at whatever rate is most convenient for you, then call the company again, and they come and take away the empty pods. Often you do not even need to be home when the pods are delivered and picked up.

Are there any special considerations I should know about?

Packing moving pods is a little different from packing a moving truck. Instead of putting the heaviest objects at the front of the container, you should spread the weight evenly across the floor of the container, with heavy objects on the bottom and lighter objects on top. You should also take extra care to pad your belongings, since the container might tip and rock slightly when it is loaded and unloaded. Also, if the pod company does not provide a padlock, you will need to buy one yourself.
